Panchakarma word unites with two words
Panch means Five and Karma means treatment.
Five specific Treatment that detoxify your body are Vaman, Virechan, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshan.
Basics of human body are Vata, Pitta, Kapha, Blood and Brain. So for the treatments for all above are in order to Basti, Virechan, Vaman, Raktamokshan and Nasya.
[1] Vaman- Emesis Therapy: –
Vaman helps us to remove kapaha toxins from the body.
In this treatment, some medicines and medicated ghee are given according to disease for internal oletation and Abhyangam (Full Massage) and Swedan (Full massage) for external oletation are being planned to prepare the patient for Vaman. The day before from Vaman karma kapha aggravating food are given to the patient. In chief treatment specific medicines are given that triggers vomiting in the patient. And through that aggravated impure kapha has been carried out.
Vaman is indicated in those diseases which are originated due to aggravation of impure Kapha Dosha i.e. Skin disease, psoriasis, scabies, eczema, urticaria, obesity, thyroid, Asthma.
[2] Virechan- Purgation Therapy:-
Virechan helps us to remove Pitta toxins from the body.
In the Virechan, as per Vaman karma, some medicines and medicated ghee are given according to disease for internal oletation and Abhyangam (Full Massage) and Swedan (Full massage) for external oletation are being planned to prepare the patient. On the day for chief treatment, specific medicine are given which work as laxatives. And through that aggravated impure Pitta has been carried out.
Virechan is indicated in those diseases which are originated due to aggravation of impure Pitta Dosha i.e. Hyperacidity, Infertility, various skin diseases, obesity, recurrent UTI, paralysis, Burning sensation over palms of hands and soles of feet.
[3] Basti:-
Basti is medicated enema. In this treatment as per disease medicated oil or decoction are inserted into large intestine through rectum. As per disease, Basti takes 7days, or 14 days or 30 days treatment time, without hospitalisation.
Ayurveda says that the origin place of Vata dosh is colon and bones, Basti works on such organ so its gives best result in Vatik Disease. Also as per Ayurveda, Vata Dosha play main part into migration of impurities of body, and Basti is specifically very effective work on Vata Dosha, that’s why Ayurveda says Basti is half treatment of any kind of disease. If administered properly this treatment helps to cure most health complaints and give good health.
Basti will help in various diseases which are originated due to aggravation of impure Vata Dosha i.e. osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Paralysis, Parkinsonism, Sciatica, Spondylitis, and also in GI diseases.
[4] Raktamokshan:-
Raktamokshan is process of bloodletting treatment. In some disease where impurities are present in blood, Raktamokshan helps us. We use different type of processes for bloodletting like coupling, by applying Jaluka, by puncturing vein-phlebotomy. Raktamokshan therapy must be administered by well experience registered Ayurveadcharya. Raktamokshan works best in those disease in which impure blood are involved i.e. psoriasis, scabies, urticaria, acne vulgaris- pimples, and even in hypertension.
[5] Nasya:-
Nasya is administration of medicated oil in nasal cavity. Administered medicines either expel out the aggravated doshas or subside the aggravation. Nose is nearest organ from brain so Nasya also give best result in nervous diseases. Nasya helps in such disease i.e. Migraine, Insomnia, Bell’s palsy, epilepsy, premature greying of hair, baldness, stress and also in chronic allergic rhinitis.
