In this article, I would like to share a good case study of how ayurvedic medicines cured Non-alcoholic cirrhosis of Liver when the patient had been advised for Liver transplantation.
Primary information of that Liver Disease patient:
On dated 29th August 2019, that patient and her relatives came at Ayurbhav for their first consultation. Patient was 39 year old female. While coming inside the consultation room, her huge abdomen was easily visible due to excessive fluid accumulation inside peritoneal cavity which is called as ascites. Ascites is typical sign of Chronic Liver disease.
Signs were found on her first visit as followed
- Ascites
- Dark yellow sclera
- Jaundice – Generalized yellow discoloration of skin
- Dark black spots on face & neck skin
- Weakness
- Low grade fever
- fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Pedal oedema.
- Decrease urine output.
At that time her vitals were as follows
- Weight – 64.500 kg,
- Spo2 – 95%,
- Pulse – 130/min,
- Blood Pressure – 100/70 mmHg.
Detail history of the patient:
Patient’s born & brought up was in India, but from last 21 years, she lived in Canada. On 4th May 2019, she had symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and yellow discolouration of skin & sclera (symptoms of Jaundice), so she was hospitalized for further investigation & treatment. At that time very first her Liver Function test of SGPT spotted elevated. After all other investigation were done, and after all those reports, she was diagnosed as auto immune hepatitis. So on 15th May 2019, they started Prednisolone 60mg as treatment for auto immune hepatitis. She was given discharge on 17th May 2019 with continuing of prednisolone as so called treatment.
After taking discharge, patient was brought to India back.
In India, She was admitted in one of allopathic hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for further treatment. Again they did all reports.
On dated 3rd June, 2019 her reports were as followed-

- Haemoglobins – 15.2 gm%
- WBC Count – 10,800 /cmm
- Platelet Count – 1,10,000/cmm
- Liver Function Test
- Total Bilirubin – 29.9 ^ mg%
- Direct Bilirubin – 24.8 ^ mg%
- Indirect Bilirubin – 5.1 ^ mg%
- SGPT – 170 ^ I.U/L
- Alkaline Phosphatase – 442 ^ I.U/L
- HBsAg – Negative
- HCV – Negative
- IgM Ab To Hepatitis E Virus – 0.23
- AB To Hepatitis A Virus IgM – 0.62
- Hepatitis A Virus (IgG) – 12.06
- Copper Level – 109.64 ug/dl
- Bleeding Time – 1:45
- Clotting Time – 4:50
- Prothombin Time
- Test – 22 Sec
- Control – 15 Sec
And her whole abdomen ultrasonography were done on dated 4th June, 2019 which commented that-
“Liver is small sized (11.9 cm) shrunken with course echo pattern & nodular margin, suggestive of cirrhosis. Mild to moderate ascites.”
As per the reports she having cirrhosis of Liver, and on dated 13th June, 2019 they declared to them-
“She is an ideal candidate for Liver transplant.”
As her auto immune hepatitis was in the stage of cirrhosis, thus that was a serious fatal disease.
Patient and her relative wasn’t willing for Liver transplantation, and looking for alternative way from which they could withhold that Liver Transplantation surgery. During that time they got reference of Ayurbhav – Ayurveda & Panchakarma Clinic, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from somewhere and then her relative visited Ayurbhav as hope to withhold Liver transplantation and to be cured from such condition of auto immune hepatitis and fatal Liver cirrhosis disease.
Ayurvedic treatments for Cirrhosis of liver:

On dated 29th August 2019, after taking detail examination as per Ayurveda, we gave Ayurvedic medicines and diet for next 15 days. And also told them to observe finely for any changes or improvement for next 15 days of ayurvedic treatment.
Within 15 days, they found that pedal oedema resolved & significant improvement in ascites also. After those positive results, ayurvedic medicines were being continuous as it was. After 1 month, all reports were taken again and results were really in the positive side. And on other hand patient also became able to do all her routine stuffs by herself.
On dated 20th December, 2019 all blood reports were taken and those were as below:-

- PT – 12.4 Sec
- MNPT – 11.9 Sec
- INR – 1.04 Sec
Dated 17th January, 2020, her ultrasonography has been done again. And report commented as below-
“Liver: Normal in size, smooth in shape having course parenchymal echogenicity s/o chronic parenchymal disease, longest dimension measure: 13.6 cm. No free fluid is seen in pleural or peritoneal cavity.”
Yes..!! we did. That the liver which was shrunken in size was becoming in normal stage. The results were really miraculous. After that we did an interview with the patient and her relatives for their experience about the liver disease, her previous condition of that time, experience about ayurvedic medicines, and also for Ayurbhav. That interview is being attached at the end of this article.
Patient went back to Canada on dated 22nd of January 2020 with a satisfactory and sweet smile. She is doing all her routines easily right now.
Yes, Ayurveda can postpone Liver Transplantation, not only transplantation but also, cured from such a fatal liver disorder, and gives us a new healthy life.
